Residents of NASFAT community, Felele phase II, a suburb of Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital, have sent Save Our Life, SOS, to the governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, (AEDC) over power outage they said had been on for several months.
This is contained in a Save Our Soul letter signed by the Chairman of the community, Hon.Sani Ibrahim and Chairman, Committee on Electricity, Raji Omuya on Monday.
The community lamented that the development had brought hardship to them in terms, of paralyzing social and economic activities, adding that hoodlums now capitalized on the power outage to perpetuate all forms of criminal activities in the community.
The residents, therefore, appealed to AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello to provide them with a new transformer.
The letter reads in part “We are calling on AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello to quickly come to our aid. Our community has been suffering from total blackout for several months. Economic activities have been crippled, hoodlums are taking advantage of this situation.
“All we are asking for is a new transformer to fix our electricity problem.
"We have made contributions within ourselves to restore power ba our community but it is far above us, that is why we are making this passionate appeal for AEDC and Governor Bello to come and save us from these long months of darkness and hardship," the community said.
