Alhaji Mohammed Baba Busu.
The Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has conferred the traditional title, Jakada Labari Nupe on a veteran journalist, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Busu of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Baba Busu, the North-Central Zonal Manager of NAN was turbaned over the weekend alongside another illustrious son of Nupe land, Col. Alhassan Mohamed Majin (rtd) who also received the title, Kakaki Raba Nupe.
Speaking at the Wadata palace of the Royal father in, Bida, Niger state during the weekend, the Etsu Nupe said the conferment of the titles on the two distinguished personalities was in recognition of their contributions to the growth and development of Bida Emirate.
The contributions of the two personalities are very significant to the qualities required to qualify them for titles in Bida Emirate and as well to guarantee peace and harmony and as well to foster unity of purpose in the Nupe kingdom.
“We have gathered here today to honor our own who have contributed in one way or the other to the development of this domain and have explored ways, both within and outside, performing wonderfully well in their respective careers, especially in the areas of commitments and dedication for the peace and prosperity of the entire Bida Emirate.
"Despite the bad road to Bida from Minna, the crowd of dignitaries here today clearly shows the love friends and associates have for you as you impacted the well-being of your various communities. I commend you for living up to the expectations of your people," the traditional ruler said.
The royal father, however, reminded the two new title holders that such titles came with additional responsibilities, adding that were expected to champion the cause of promoting peaceful co-existence amongst the subjects and inculcating in their acts of vigilance to curtail the influx of people with criminal mindset into the various communities.
While expressing optimism that Baa Busu and Mohamed Majin will not fail in their various responsibilities that go with their respective titles, the Etsu Nupe enjoined them to justify the confidence reposed on them by doing more for the sake of God and humanity,
The Etsu Nupe, who reminded the two title holders ", to whom much is given, much is expected stressed that more responsibilities were expected of them in promoting peaceful co-existence amongst the various tribes, both indigene and non-indigenes in Niger state.
He also reminded them of the need to be sincere and upright in their judgments, stressing that there is nothing short of truth and fairness to all that is expected of them in handling matters between the different ethnic groups and religious groups across the Emirate council.
Responding, the Jikada Labari Nupe, Alhaji Mohamed Baba Busu, thanked the Etsu Nupe for the honor done to them and assured them that they would do all that is humanly possible to uphold the title with associated responsibilities.
