A former Governorship aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress in the last APC Governorship primary election and a chieftain of the APC, Adebanji David Jimoh,  has commended Governor Yahaha Bello for keeping to his promise to expedite the take-off of Okun University.

Adebanji David Jimoh, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Friday, also praised the Governor for the immediate inauguration of the committee that will give recommendations for the immediate take-off of the university.

"The Governor's decision to establish Okun University is unprecedented in the history of Okun Nation which has been marginalized by previous administrations...

"The emergence of Governor Yahaha Bello has renewed the hope of the Okun people in his quest to develop all parts of the state. This is a dream come true for the people of Okun Nation.

"Let me also commend the committee members for accepting the responsibility and the Chairman, Professor Olu Obafemi, and his committee members, for their commitment so far for the take-off of the university.

He expressed joy that the committee members accepted to determine the type/nature of the university to be established, be it specialized or conventional, and propose an appropriate name for the institution as their term of reference.

Jimoh noted that members of the committee were also mandated to identify an ideal location and a suitable site to ensure the immediate commencement of academic activities and to explore realistic and sustainable funding sources amongst others.

"I trust that the committee members, given their composition, will deliver as expected and their recommendations would allow for a speedy implementation of the planned takeoff, to submit their report in six weeks," he said.

He appealed to the good people of Okun Nation to cooperate with the committee for them to come up with suitable resolutions that would be in the best interest of all Okun people in particular and Kogi State at large.

"I equally want to appeal to Okun people to reciprocate the gesture by coming out in their good numbers in the forthcoming Kogi State Governorship election and vote overwhelmingly for APC Governorship candidate, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman to enable him to sustain the legacy of the Governor.
