The Branch Pastor, New Testament Christ Mission, Lokoja, Kogi State, north-central Nigeria, Pst. Daramola Femi has advised couples to factor into their marriage, the teaching of the word of God and make it the pillar of their union to make it peaceful and enduring.
He said the advice became necessary given the rising cases of divorce in, society generally, due to the style of Western culture which some couples adopted in running their family affairs in contrast to the indigenous culture.

The religious leader advised on Friday in Lokoja in his sermon at the traditional wedding between Gloria and Gbenga, the children of the families of Mr.Felix Olobayo and Elder and Deaconess D.S Oye.
He expressed concern that the rate of divorce in society had been on the increase because many couples had deviated from the purpose of marriage which he said centers on love, understanding, tolerance, meaningful communication, and holding each in high esteem as well as having zero tolerant for deceit.

Responding to the melodious Christian song.Pst. Femi said that even though it is enshrined in the Holy Bible that "let there be no divorce", empirical experience had shown that many Christian couples no longer let Jesus Christ be the center of their marriage, hence the center can longer hold.
He, however, stressed the need for the wives to be submissive to the order of their husbands and do whatever their husbands asked them to do while should also respect their wives in all respects for their marriage to endure and be peaceful.
"Do not disobey God, allow His teaching to guide your marriage, the only thing that can keep marriage successful is the couples to keep to the teaching of God, "he warned the couple.
Our correspondent reports that highlights at the occasion were prayers offered for the couple by the pastors manning the 17 branches of the church, rendition of Christian songs, and cutting of wedding cake the couple to be, preparatory to church wedding scheduled for Saturday in Lokoja.
