Seven hundred and twenty-two intending pilgrims from kogi state are set to attend the 2023 Hajj in Makkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia, according to the Kogi State Amir Hajj, Alhaji Zakariaya Zakk Abubakar Aliyu.
Aliyu, who disclosed to the correspondent of The Reporters in a telephone interview in Lokoja on Saturday, added that the number includes officials.
According to him, the intending pilgrims would be transported to Abuja for camping, on Sunday, preparatory for their flight to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday in two batches.
He solicited the cooperation of journalists in the state in the dissemination of information about the exercise.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State Hajj Commission has directed all intending pilgrims for the 2023 hajj from the state, to report at the FCT Hajj camp located around the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday by 12-noon prompt in preparation for their onward journey to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A statement signed by Zakari Ette Usman on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the commission also advised intending pilgrims against carrying multiple pieces of luggage except the 8kg bag given to them.
The statement also warned pilgrims against carrying illegal substances like; Kola nuts, hard drugs, sharp objects ropes, and liquid substances.
In addition, pilgrims are to be in their uniform given to them by the commission, he added.
The statement added that all pilgrims that did not submit their COVID-19 cards to the commission should carry the same along with them to the camp.
The statement strongly advised all pilgrims to handle their luggage and money with the utmost care, adding that any loss of property would be at the owner’s risk and advised non pilgrims to stay away from the camp.
