The flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),come November 11 in Kogi State, Hon. Leke Abejide, has called on Kogi workers to remain strong and keep hope alive, despite the prevailing situation that had seen many of them lose their jobs or had their pay check eroded amid rising cost of living.

Abejide, who.gave the promise in a statement on Monday,,on the sideline of 2023 Workers Day, said if voted to as Governor of the State, he would look into all the workers unjustly screened during the exercise out and return them  to their jobs.

He noted that the past couple of years had been particularly challenging for Kogi workers, especially those at the local government level and attributed the negative development to the downsize that affected many of them and their meagrep and ercentage salaries.

According to the Governorship candidate, the attendant loss of job and percentage payment have also reduced the spending capacity of the workers and lowered their socio-economic standard but assured them that their" hope is on the horizon."

“On this occasion of the International Workers’ Day, I celebrate workers across the country, especially the Kogi state workforce. "I hail your patriotism and resilience in the face of tough challenges resulting from the job retrenchment and percentage.

"I urge you not to be disenchanted by the seemingly challenging situation across the 21 council areas, as better days are definitely ahead".

He called on members of the organised labour to remain patriotic to their duties and to the state, promising that the next governorship election would liberate the state from the hands of the new ‘feudal Lords’..
