Inhabitants of Lokoja, Kogi State, North Central Nigeria, have gone into serious prayer, invoking divine intervention for "God to send down the rain" in the face of the biting effects of scarcity of potable water they encounter in the state capital.
Our Correspondent in Lokoja recalls that substantial parts of Lokoja, the capital of Confluence Kogi State, such as Gadumo, Ganaja, and phase two among others have been facing scarcity of drinkable water since October 2022 flood.
The Reporters recall that the flood submerged the water equipment at the Lokoja Greater Works, Ganaja, thus putting paid to the supply of potable to the larger members of the public in the state capital.
Some members of the public who spoke with our Correspondent on Thursday in Lokoja, sent passionate appeals to the state government to solve the water problem, given the importance of water to people and the public as a whole.
According to them, the lack of drinkable water had brought a lot of untold hardship to their social and economic activities.
