How Nollywood actor, Murphy Afolabi, dies.

The popular Nollywood actor,  Murphy Afolabi, whose sudden death was announced Sunday morning in Ikorodu, Lagos was said to have passed on during a bath.

Sources close to the family of the deceased, whose demise said he fell in the bathroom in his house in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Sunday morning.

He was a popular  Yoruba actor, and filmmaker who made his mark in the movie industry to the admission of millions of movie viewers.


One of the sources and the President of the Yoruba movies directors guild, Seun Olaiya, shared the sad news on a WhatsApp platform, populated by filmmakers. 


The Managing Director of the popular movie marketing company, Corporate Pictures Nigeria Limited, Abdullahi Abdulrasaq also confirmed the sad story. 

While mourning the death of Afolabi, Dayo Daramola, on his Facebook page, said"

"Today we are alive Hale and hearty, tomorrow we are gone. What a life! Murphy Afolabi, rest in peace "


Other members of the public who spoke with our correspondent on the sad news in Lokoja on Sunday, described Murphy as one Yoruba actor that had brought a lot of smiles, happiness, and lesson of life to millions of people on and outside the shores of Nigeria.

They expressed condolences to his family as well as members of the Nollywood family.

According to legit. ng, Murphy Afolabi,who was born in 1974 in Osun state and hailed from Oroki Asala, Osogbo was  one of seven children from a polygamous home,will be buried in Osogbo on May 15. 


He was the third child of his father and the first son of the Afolabi family. Ten days before he passed, Murphy had just turned 49 years old on May 5, 2023, and was hugely celebrated by his colleagues on social media. 2, the social media outfit added.

He had his primary, secondary, and tertiary education in Osun state Murphy Afolabi spent most of his formative years in Osogbo, the capital of his home state, Osun. 

He attended Ansar-u-deen Islamic Boys junior and senior secondary High school. Murphy earned his diploma from Osun state polytechnic Iree, where he studied Theatre Arts and Film Production He graduated with a Higher National Diploma from Iree Poly in 2001.

The ace Yoruba movie producer is happily married and has been with his wife for nearly two decades.
