Gov'ship poll: Don't bereave more than bereaved, Kogi NUJ Chairnman advises members.

The Chairman, Nigeia Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kogi State Council, Alhaji Mimohjimoh Adeiza has appealed to Journalists in the state to shun being "bereave more than the bereaved"while reporting political events, especially as the forthcoming Governirship contest, scheduled for November 11,2023, gathers momentum.


The Chairman,who gave the advicel on Thursday during the monthly Congress meeting of the union at the NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja expressed concern the manner some members of the union report political events which he noted did not conform with the objective reportage of events.

He reminded the Journalists on the need to shun bias reportage of the campaign of all the governorship candidates in the planned campaign in the state, to ensure seamless and peaceful exercise.


Adeiza also called on the  political actors and their followers to thread with caution to ensure peace, before, during and after the campaign and election.

According to him,they should focus on what they intend to improve on the welfare and well-being of the people, if they win electíon and not indulging on issues that would bring tension to the political situation in the state.


Our Correspondent reports that members,in their various contributions during the meeting, called on the state government to solve water scarcity in Lokoja,sequel to the destruction of the water equipment at Lokoja Greater Works by the October 2022 flood.

They also stressed the need for governnent to complete the rehabilitation of the Ganaja road, implementation of weigh-in allowance for the state media workers to boost their morale and members' welfare.
