Excitement by members of the Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ, took center stage Thursday evening at their Press Centre, Lokoja as news filtered that the Kogi State House of Assembly Commission has appointed one of their own, Mr. AKa Adebayo Michael as the new Deputy Clerk, Administration and General Services of the Assembly.
Our Correspondent, who visited the press center reports that Journalists were seen showering the new deputy clerk, who breezed to the Centre, shortly after the announcement of his appointment, with "congratulations, Aka".
The announcement is contained in the appointment letter presented by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Kolawole Matthew on Thursday in Lokoja to Mr. Aka. Adebayo Michael.
Mr.Michael, until his new appointment, was the Director, Information of the Kogi State House of Assembly.
Our Correspondent gathered that the new appointee has been in the journalism profession for the last 18 years.
He was the Production Editorial of The Graphic newspaper before his transfer to the State Assembly, following a vacancy for the Director Information position.
He replaces Mr.Martins Enimola who retired after 35 years of meritorious service to the state.
Many members of the seven chapels that constitute the union attended the emergency meeting.
