Kogi State Youth Parliament has urged Governor Yahaya Bello to use his "Federal Might and Connection" to, as a matter of urgency, halt the Concessioning bid in the interest of Kogi State and the Youths at large.

The Parliament  in a statement signed by its Speaker,Rt.Hon. Ibikunle Olajide on Friday in Lokoja, also called on him to immediately stop the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development from Concessioning the two still establishments.

The speaker, who also urged the Kogi State House of Assembly, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Kogi State  to follow suit, described the action of the federal ministry as "illogical"

According to him,the planned concession is against the interest of the youths of Kogi State, insisting that all efforts must be put together to halt the proces.

The speaker noted that a 20-day ultimatum for advertisement for interested and possible buyers, over a highly funded company like Ajaokuta Steel and Itapke Iron Mining Company, was a breach of the Infrastructural Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

He said that ICRC stipulated six weeks for appropriate advertisement to enable possible buyers to access,  evaluate and go into proper negotiations.

Olajide observed that 'the 20-day response would put a rush into the concession of the company which would in turn jeopardize the future of youths of the state.

"I consider the concessioning of the Ajaokuta Steel and Itapke Iron Mining Company as an act of fraud against the interest of the Youth of Kogi State".

"Our Iron Ore, Local coal, lime stone and necessary raw materials, when properly put to use, can sustain the youth for a thousand years and give a befitting prospect to Kogi State.

"It took the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, six months and few days to sort out their "Transaction Adviser", how come the Ministry is giving 20 days to gather bidders across the country over the company,"he added.

The Speaker also urged the incoming Administration of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to revert the earlier bill approved by both Arms of the National Assembly for Government to fully fund, complete and operationalize Ajaokuta steel company, first and privatize the companies at premium prices after.
