The Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has admonished Muslims to extend love to others, including adherents of other religions and as well ensure they practise act of selfless service to humanity beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
The Etsu also called Wealthy moslems to allow their wealth benefit others by engaging in charity and philanthropic work to others, especially the needy, as a way of showing gratitude to Allah for making them rich and in total submission to God’s commandments.
The Etsu Nupe made the call at the closing of Ramadan Tafsir at the Maasaba Jumma’at Mosque in Bida, Bida Local Government Area on Tuesday, reminding adherents of the Islamic faith on the need to eschew selflessness in whatever they do.
The Royal father said,"It is necessary for the wealthy in the society to engage in philanthropic gestures as a way of showing gratitude to God by helping others in total submission to God’s commandments and service to humanity."
He reminded Muslim faithful that the only way to reap the benefits of the holy month is to abide by the lessons learnt during the Tafsir preaching and the lectures, to be in tune with Almighty Allah.
"Demonstrating kindness and practising the act of selfless service to humanity during and after Ramadan is one of the cardinal necessities expected of Moslem, “The important thing in all the between 29 or 30 days that we are going to have the Ramadan is to show love to ourselves and our neighbours irrespective of their religious inclinations.
“Beyond Ramadan, we must also show the attitude of giving at all times; we must as well touch the lives of the poor and the needy, we must touch our people”, the Etsu Nupe said, adding that it is a mockery of the religion for Muslims to become saints during the Ramadan but would go back to committing sins afterwards.
"Moslem faithful should continue to abstain from sinful acts at all times in their life by living their lives free from sinful nature, the Etsu Nupe said as he cautioned Muslims on the need to rest indulging in sin after the Ramadan fast.
“Many quit smoking, drinking, fornication, adultery, backbiting and other negative tendencies during the holy month of Ramadan but think sin is permitted after the season,” Alhaji Abubakar warned.
“Muslims, knowing well that God hates sins, must remain holy for all their prayers to be answered, the Monarch said as he underscored the need for sustainable peace and unity amongst the country’s ethnic nationalities.
"There is no alternative to peace, without peace meaningful development will continue to elude us as a country, adding that, “God created Nigerians with multi-ethnic and religious differences differently for a purpose and He never made mistakes”,he added.
The traditional ruler said the diversities in Nigeria with well over 250 ethnic groups, religious and cultural affiliations in Nigerian were made possible by God to make them more united and therefore encouraged moslems to be an instrument of peace in all that they do.
