Tasks before muslim Journalists to attain greater heights.

Muslim Journalists in Nigeria have been advised to always strive for personal development, through increased acquisition of knowledge and experience in tune with the demands of their profession in the evolving technological age and to surmount any unforeseen circumstances.



A Journalist and an Islamic scholar, Mal. Sadiq Ahmed, gave the advice on Wednesday while delivering the last edition in the series of Ramadan lectures organised by the Kogi State chapter of the Muslim Medial Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN.


Our Correspondent reports that the lecture, which has theme," Personal development,took place at the NTA Mosque, Lokoja.



According to the lecturer,Islam enjoins its adherents to constantly seek knowledge, to gain more experience for greater productivity, effective self satisfaction and increased good deeds for humanity the larger society.



Ahmed also urged those concerned to create time to attend activities, such as seminars, workshops,in-house courses and earn more academic qualifications that would make them add value to their life and neighbours to ensure a better society.


He stressed:"As muslims, we need to develop all aspects of our lives by building our capacity to be able to stand the test of time, because the world is evolving on a daily basis and we cannot to be left behind.


"We are part of the dynamic society, if we develop ourselves, the society will develop accordingly.Time is for those who  have vision to develop themselves and make positive impact in the society.


" With increased knowledge and experience, we will be in a better vantage to use ur profession to do good deeds to the society, this is an act of worship in Islam.


"If we cannot contribute anything positive to the development of society and humanity because of our limited knowledge and experience in the ever changing society;technologically and other wise, then we are nothing but liability to the society".


He also called for attitudinal change among muslim Journalists, especially in their relationship in the office and with other members of the society as well private life and to have plan "B" in case of uncertainty that could come up  in the course of their job in future.


The Journalist noted that many muslim Journalists were quick at blaming the leaders for the ills of the society forgetting that both the leaders and the led have greater role to play in ensuring a peaceful and developed sectors of the country's economy.


The cleric expressed concern that many muslim Journalists often give flimsy excuses for their inability to solve personal or societal problems or make it in life, because they lacked vision to develop themselves intellectually and spiritually.



"Stop giving flimsy excuses for not making it in life. Almighty Allah has given you free will to pilot your life.Whatever challenge you face in life is prompt you to think outside the box to overcome and achieve better results.


"When challenge strikes, learn from ii,see it as a motivation to forge ahead it is not a punish.Success comes with challenge and challenge brings success,"


"Develop meaningful interpersonal relationship with neighbours to achieve the desired success in your chosen profession.


"Smile while interacting with others to inspire them."Be a goal setter by working assiduously to achieve such aim, have daily plans.


"Be proactive in ur attitude towards people, show them affection and do your best in whatever work you do to impact meaningfully in your life and others.


"Islam was accepted through human relationship displayed by Prophet Mohammed and not by force contrary to insinuations in some quarters. Have affection towards others to create a peaceful and harmonious society of our dream.



"Carry your wife along with you in your family activities because they matter a lot in attainment of your success in life."


He also advised his colleagues to adhere strictly to Islamic injunctions and principles by being closer to their creator for their  prayer to be answered by Almighty Allah.



Our Correspondent reports that highlights of the occasion were Quranic recitation by Mal.Mubaraq, observant of congregational prayer, joint breaking of fast by participants exchanging of pleasantry and sharing of thoughts and ideas for the good of the country.
