The Police Command in Kwara State says it has arrested one of the suspects that kidnapped Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye along Eiyenkorin in Ilorin, Abubakar Shehu.
The magistrate is the wife of former military governor of Bauchi and Osun States, retired Brig. Bamigboye.
Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin,the Commissioner of Police in the state CP. Paul Odama said the command arrested twenty other suspects and recovered charms as well as arms.
He said Abubakar Shehu,aka Dogo, the leader of the suspected kidnappers of the Magistrate, was arrested by a combine team of vigilantee and police along Eiyenkorin, following an intelligent information of activities of the suspect in the area.
CP.Odama said another set of five kidnappers were arrested by a team of Policemen attached to Banni Division in conjunction with local vigilantes in the forest.
He said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to be kidnappers, noting that two of their members, Bayo Dudu and Aliyu Abubakar, stayed in Niger State.
The commissioner noted that effort is still on to arrest the fleeing members of the kidnap gang.
The police boss explained that the remaining eleven suspects were arrested on offences bordering on secret cults, attempt to commit culpable homicide and belonging to gang of thieves, adding that various incriminating items were recovered from them.
CP Odama assured that all the suspects would be charge to court as soon as Investigations is concluded.
