By Dada Ahmed in Lokoja.
Two Governorship aspirants in PDP primary elections, scheduled for Lokoja ,Kogi State on April 16,2023, Arc. Yomi Awoniyi and Dr.Bolu Rotimi, have kicked alleged plan by the committee charged with responsibility of conducting the exercise to shun the use of "strange delegate list" to avoid crisis.
They gave the warning in a joint press conference in Lokoja on Saturday.
The aspirants, who said that 158 names of letimate delegate members had been replaced wi6 illegal names, said they would resist such illegality on Sunday.
Awoniyi and Rotimi said that they paid all the necessary fees to buy the form to contest the primaries, adding that they would resist any attempt to stop legitimate delegates from exercising their rights to be part of the primaries.
According to them, they are legitimate members of PDP and would use their rights to fight illegality that might come up during the primaries.
Awoniyi, who is a former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, recalled that the PDP raised objection to the absence of the original result sheet and the Ninge committee said there was no cause for alarm and promised to transfer and promised to transfer bthe result of the Congress into the result sheet.
He said though the results of the adhoc Congress, comprising of 21 local government areas and 239 words were duly satisfied by INEC,he and his group later discovered that the results of ad-hoc congress that took place were completely mutilated and the results of the national delegate were also tampered with.
Awoniyi said:"Having reviewed the national delegate list and ad-hoc congress results presented, it is quite clear that what is being attempted to be used for our primaries tomorrow (April 16) is at complete variance with what happened on the field here in Kogi State,
"We as members of the party would like to draw the attention of the world to this anomaly,
"It is trash to say that where the party sets quideline for process and the process is well held to,it not reasonable for the same part to change that same process band import strange names in to the delegate list.
"We are a party bound by laws,we live in a country that is bound by laws,it absolutely unacceptable that attempt would be made to make nonsense of our Congresses from the wards and local governments.
"Therefore,we would like to put the party on notice with the demand that the right thing is done. We demand that the delegate list that emerged from the processes put by the party on the 29th of March and 8th of April, we demand these lists are used.
"It is not acceptable to us that we are being completely to use a delegate list that is foreign to the process that took place."
Dr.Rotimi, who also spoke in line with the submission of Awoniyi, warned the party of the danger inherent in the use of an unacceptable delegate list for the party's congress on Sunday in Lokoja.
