Sheikh Lemu advocates leadership of succession system,capacity building in accordance with Islamic injunction

The Islamic community, especially in Nigeria,has been advised to entrench leadership that strives to build on system of succession and capacity building for self actualization as well as develop followers' mental ability and moral standing in the society for effective continuation of good leadership.
The Chairman,Dawa Institute of Nigeria, Sheikh Nurudeen Lemur, gave the advice during the 4th edition of the NTA, Lokoja, Annual Ramadan lecture at the Lokoja Central Mosque Hall.
Our Correspondent reports that the quest lecturer,who spoke on "Leadership, Followers:The Islamic perspective", stressed the need for such leaders, especially as Nigerians warm to have a new set of leadership to govern the country in the next polical dispensation.
According to him, leaders must not necessarily have to be in front in many cases, adding that they could operate from the back to enable them see the direction of the followers and redirect them, when the need arises, for better future.
He also called on those nursing the ambition to lead not to jettison developing themselves mentally, intellectually and morally, to be able to fit in any leadership opportunity that would come their way..
"Build your capacity, read books, because such opportunity is in your control.
"Do not look down on any position,if somebody gives you an opportunity,see it as a chance to work and learn, because it is a chance for you to acquire new knowledge and experience to better your productive," Sheikh Lemu, who is also the Director, Islamic Education Trust Fund, urged the followers.
The cleric reminded leaders the on the type of followers they should association with, adding that some followers might not measure upto the moral standard expected of the leaders, yet they could be a source of continued learninglesson on how leaders could adjust in human management to ensure peace and meaningful development..
According to him, Islam subscribes to the concept where by people seek to lead others but that such leadership seekers must ensure that they have the intellectual capacity and moral standing to carry out the onerous task to be able to meet people's yearnings and aspirations.
He called on those saddled with the responsibility of leading others to give serious consideration to education of the followers, their security, healthcare and agriculture, as away of reducing ignorance, disease,hunger and crisis among other social and economic problems confronting the society.
He said emphasized that leaders would account for their actions on earthbon the day of judgement, adding that they must use the opportunity given to them by Almighty Allah to exibit good leadership by ehancing the minds of the followers by exposing them to moral and other forms of education .
The Director General/Chief Executive Officer,NTA, Comrade A. Dembus, represented by the General Manager,NTA, Lokoja, Alhaji Yahaya Adam, said that the lecture was part of the Authority's responsibility towards the propagation of Islam.
He said the theme of the lecture was carefully chosen so that those warming to take over the leadership of Nigeria in the next polical dispensation,soon, would learn a lot from content and context and build it into their leadership agenda.
He called on the stakeholders in organisation of the lecture to expand its scope and standardize the lecture series, especially in the area of live transmission of subsequent editions for the exercise to impact more in the life of the people.

Members of the high table that attended the occasion commended NTA for organizing the event and urged its management not to relent in the pursuance of such cause in their good will messages.
