Ododo Ahmed Usman, one of the finest illustrious sons of the popular city of rocks and steel in Kogi Central, a trained professional accountant with in-dept wealth of experience and expertise in the field of accounting and financial management. He is the immediate past Auditor General of local government in Kogi State, a highly committed and workaholic officer with attention to details. He is one of the cardinal pillars, a loyal and dependable officer of his mentor, governor Yahaya Bello. In view of his exalted office and position as the Auditor General, he remained humble, dedicated, and committed to the success of his Boss and Kogi in general.
Ododo was appointed into the position of Auditor General of local governments in Kogi State at a time when the accountability and transparency in the conduct of government business was in the front burner in Nigeria.
As one of the competent Auditing Officers in the governor Yahaya Bello's led administration in the state, he oversees the state budget and programs and eliminates waste wherever possible, he maintains proper accounting records of expenditure in the state.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Chieftaincy, Local Government Affairs and Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, he ensures programs are performing their intended goals in the state. As a matter of fact, Ododo's adroit financial experience has benefited the state in terms of financial stability, forecast and debt management. His numerous inputs were greeted with commendations from individuals and corporate organisations.
Ododo, is extremely compassionate, a destiny helper and benefactor to many. In my physical meetings with some beneficiaries of his benevolent gestures, Titilayo Victoria who hailed from Kogi West, and others in Central and Eastern zones of the state narrated their encounters to me as they described him as one who identities with people in their moment of challenges and never misses opportunity to lend assistance to such people with life challenges when approached. According to her, Ododo is a succour donor and God ordained pain reliever, noting that he is a good example of generosity. In his DNA, lies humanitarian services as he sees service to humanity as a core calling.
In the last seven years of his unblemished stewardship as the Auditor General of the state before his resignation in fulfillment of the electoral act 2022 as amended, Ododo's rising political profile is unprecedented as his followership and support base across the three senatorial districts took a geometric progression. His scintillating antecedents, cheerful disposition and benevolence have endeared him to many with driven convictions to make Kogi greater.
Ododo, a symbol of unity, a pragmatic leader and bridge builder for quality leadership, he treats Kogites without recourse to ethnicity or religion. His leadership attributes earned him the golden ticket of our great Party in the last conducted primary as he enjoyed general acceptance across the state during the exercise. Prior to the primary election conducted on April 14, 2023, one of his supporters, Isah Jibril Salifu who hailed from Kogi East said "in Ododo, Kogi state has new vision, new voice and new brand of leadership with proven integrity and character to lead. He urged the people in the state to support his candidacy for economic growth and development, adding that Ododo is a noble Nationalist". In the same vein, others epitomised him as a beacon of hope and icon for good representation in governance.
There is no doubt that Ododo's quest to become the next governor of Kogi state, if by God's grace he emerges victorious in the November 11 general election as the candidate of APC, is mainly to provide him another platform to serve the good people of Kogi state with the fear of God, equity and fairness.
In view of his track records, Philanthropic Interventions and unifying factor, the entire regions in the state are in support of his candidacy as a divine mandate with capacity to consolidate on the the giant strides achieved by his political father, governor Yahaya Bello. Several political groups are already swinging into actions to drum massive supports for his candidature and ensure APC win the scheduled governorship election overwhelmingly comes November 11 in the state.
