Muslim couples have been urged to receive into the mind, assimilate and retain, the concept of marriage in Islam as an act of worship, coupled with exercising effective communication and arm with emotional intelligence to ensure peace and mutual love in their matrimonial home.
A Cleric, Mal. Sadiq Ahmed, gave the advice on Thursday at the NTA, Lokoja mosque at the third edition of Ramadan lecture organised by the Kogi State Chapter of Muslim Medial Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN.
He also reminded muslims of the need to take care of their family, especially the children, by being exemplary in character and genuine commitment to religious belief and practise, to prepare the children for future leadership responsibilities.
He expressed concern that many parents failed to train their children towards qouranic education, in preference for western education and in pursuit of worldly things.
Mal noted that the development formed the basis upon which the current soci- econimic and political problems, leading to crisis-ridden society in most parts of the globe today rest.
The religious leader condemned some parents who he said often lie while receiving or speaking via phone with others in the presence of their children and warned them desist forthwith in the interest of ensuring morally upright children.
He also called on couples to make effective communication, tolerance for each other's strengths,rights and weaknesses,love their watch words.
"Couples must not shout on each other while resolving their differences but do that with soft tone to avoid creating more problems.
"When your husband comes home from work and he is not behaving in a manner that pleases you give him peace and pray for him to ensure happy home,same goes to the wife.
According to him, home is run better when couples jettison expecting appreciation for the good they do to each other but regard that as a reward they will get from Almighty Allah.
Contributing, the state coordinator, Muslim Rights Concern,MURIC,Mal. Zakariya Aliyu, called on members of MMPN in the state to expand the scope of their activities, using their privilege position as media men and women to promote Islam.
By doing so,he added, members would be in a better vantage to disabuse the minds of adherents of other religions about misconception they might have about Islam towards ensuring religious harmony in society.
The Deputy coordinator of MMPN in the state, Mal. Mohammed Aliyu, said the lecture was organised to enlighten the wilder society about the essence of Ramadan and Islam among other aims and objectives.
