A media specialist Mr.Gospel Arinze, has advised media practitioners, most especially Journalists, to learn how to use social media platforms to make additional income to their statutory earning.
Arinze gave the advice on Tuesdayday at the Nigeria Union Journalists NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja in an interview with the Correspondent of The Reporters.
The media specialist expressed concern that while many media practitioners armed themselves with cellphones, equipped with various social media platforms which they leverage to make money, they remained in want of money.
"Some Journalists have cellphones they use on a daily basis but obtain nothing out of them in terms of monetary value to augment earning from their traditional duty of informing,educating and entertaining the public.
"Apart from this, Journalists and other media personalities can build and enhance their life company and career around social media platforms to make tangible money legally,"he said.
He expressed determination to organize a seminar for media men and women in Lokoja, soon, for them to learn the methodology of using social media platforms to make extra money.
Arinze,who disclosed that the seminar would be themed:"Making of fortune out of social media platforms", urged Journalists and other members of the society to attend the seminar.
He said that gone were the days when people limited their incoming to one source, adding that the current harsh econimic reality of the nation had necessitated the need for income diversification to cope with the reality.
"Building career, stating up a media company, using your social media platform as an avenue to start up your private company,monietizing your social platform as business tool,using your social media as value exchange in conversion to services and wealth.
"These and more you will learn when you register for the class," he assured potential attendees.
