The Acting Commissioner of Police,FCT Police Command,DCP Ahmed Musa,has sued for peace,following the mild tension which occurred at 3rd Avenue at the Gwarimpa axis of the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday.
The Acting Commissioner of Police,FCT, DCP Ahmed Musa,made the appeal when he met with Traditional Rulers of the warring parties to broker peace..
Our Correspondent gathered that the squabble between the parties involved borders on the use of hard drugs.
The Reporters also recalls that sequel to the crisis, the FCT Police Command mobilized and deployed operatives to the affected areas to douse the tension, effect necessary arrests, check and oust trouble makers in the Hausa and Gbagyi Communities in Gwarimpa.
The Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, for the FCT command, SP, Josephine Andeh, said the fracas between the two groups left two youths injured one of who later died while receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
According to the police image maker, the police has arrested one suspect who is now assisting the Police in their investigations to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the crisis.
She said:"The Acting Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT has charged the Traditional Rulers to consistently encourage the youth to imbibe peace and pursue grievances through the legally approved channels rather than taking laws into their hands.
"Meanwhile, the Police has intensified surveillance patrols in the areas for monitoring the situation to ensure that it does not further escalate.
"The Acting CP urges all well-meaning residents of the FCT to go about their lawful businesses and report all suspicious activities, persons, or groups via Command emergency lines".
