The Nasarawa State governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has congratulated Muslim faithful in the State as they join millions of muslims all over the world to mark the 2023 Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
In a press statement he personally signed and made available to News men in Lafia the state capital on Thursday, the governor urged muslims to adhere religiously to the spirit of sharing in their daily activities and make their watchword in their daily activities.
"On behalf of myself, government and the people of the state,I enjoin all Muslims to remain steadfast in applying the virtues of Ramadan by adhering to sustained supplication, hospitality and good neighborliness," he said.
The governor maintained that it behooves on the Muslim faithful that for being good citizens of the State, they should engage in sober reflection, sacrifice, contentment and hard work for the prosperity of the State.
"As we celebrate this occasion, I urge us all to re-affirm our obedience to Allah’s injunction as contained in the noble Qur’an and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
" It is also an obligation on us to pray for our leaders at all levels to govern with the fear of God and the virtues of justice, humility and service for the good of humanity". He further maintained.
Engr.Abdullahi reminded the people of the state that the season also calls for greater vigilance to ensure a safe neighbourhood, as well as general security, peace and harmony.
He appealed to the people of the state to continue to tolerate each other’s beliefs and values in order to sustain peace, harmony, socio-cultural and economic prosperity.
He assured those from other regions in the country that "Nasarawa State is a miniature society that accommodates all and sundry, irrespective of tribe, region, religion or any other creed. "
He appealed to the citizens to remain law abiding and pursue their lawful means of livelihood with no fear of molestation.
"Let me take the liberty of this festivity to beseech all citizens of Nasarawa State and Nigerians to continue to pray for the sustenance of peace, security and socio-economic prosperity of the State and the country at large," he urged.
To road users , the governor advised them to obey traffic regulations, just as he called on the officials of Federal Road Safety Commission and other security agencies to intensify enforcement of the laws during this festive season and beyond.
